Highly Dispersible Grade Silica (HDS) for Tyre Rubber Applications

Silica is commonly used as reinforcement filler in tyre rubber applications for improving tyre performance. Conventional silica grades have poor dispersion in the tyre rubber matrix as silica-silica particle interaction is high while silica-rubber particle interaction is low. This leads to uneven concentrations of silica in the rubber matrix impacting physical properties.

In comparison with conventional fillers, Tata Chemical’s TREADSIL^TM products range will provide significantly higher tyre performance due to its smaller particle size with reduced aggregates, good external surface area and high structure.

Functional Silica for Rubber applications

Silica is an important white filler to impart reinforcement in rubber compounds. However conventional silica has limitation on dispersion inside rubber matrix due to high filler – filler interactions which leads to uneven filler distribution throughout polymer matrix.

To overcome this issue, Tata Chemicals Ltd. has developed TAFOSIL^TM grades with functional modification of silica surface chemistry. TAFOSIL is easy dispersible precipitated silica with low to high surface area and narrow particle size distribution, essentially developed for rubber products to improve physical & mechanical properties like abrasion, tear, tensile etc. and provides longer product life.

Specialty precipitated Silica for Rubber & Tyre Applications

Tata Chemicals has developed a series of application-specific precipitated silica with low to high surface area and narrow particle size distribution, which can be used for technical rubber reinforcement applications such as tyres, belts and hose compounds, seals and gasket materials, textiles and industrial rubber goods, cable insulations, footwear, flooring and other technical rubber goods.
