TATA Chemicals Magadi provides food relief to the elderly
Magadi, Tuesday 6th March 2018- In an effort to mitigate the effects of drought on the elderly in Magadi Division, TATA Chemicals Magadi, led by the Managing Director Engineer Jackson Muchira Mbui, has responded to the plight of residents who have been adversely affected by the current raging drought when they donated various food supplies to the local community on Tuesday 6th March 2018.
Engineer Jackson Muchira Mbui presented the food supplies to the local community in the presence of Assistant County Commissioner Magadi Division Erastus Mbuke and the Chief for Magadi Location Daniel Lonkoi.
Speaking at the ceremony Engineer Mbui stated that, ‘TATA Magadi’s role in this community goes beyond the mantle of local employer and over the decades that we have been a part of this community we have always tried to build deep and meaningful connections with its people.’
‘The last few months have been tough for our community, and while the effects of drought have been felt by all, our elderly have borne the true brunt of the consequent food insecurity that has resulted. Our donation today is the first of many interventions that we will be taking in support of this cause, and we thank the County Government for their continued support in these efforts,’ he continued.
TATA Chemicals Magadi donated 400bales of maize flour, 36 90kg bags of beans, 134 cartons of liquid frying oil, 80 cartons of uji mix, 1600kg of sugar, and 800 pieces of table salts to the 800 elderly that were in attendance.
