Storage and handling

Soda ash produced at Tata Chemicals Magadi is free flowing and easy to handle. However, all forms of soda ash are subject to 'weathering' when exposed to the atmosphere, ie, by absorption of carbon dioxide and moisture.

In order to maintain soda ash in prime condition, both bulk and bagged product should be stored in dry, thoroughly weatherproof warehousing. Doors should not be left open; ventilation and airflow across the product should be minimised. The observance of these precautions is particularly important in humid climate.
