Tata Chemicals Europe had a GRAND old Christmas
Tata Chemicals Europe celebrated the festive period with a huge week of fundraising, generating a fantastic £1,000GBP for St Luke’s Hospice.
Employees took to the streets of Northwich in Cheshire, to take part in a charity ‘Rowathon’ in very cold weather. Each participant had to try and row approximately 2km in 15 minutes in order to reach the overall target of 112km – the total length of the River Mersey between nearby cities Liverpool and Manchester.
More than 40 colleagues from TCE and St Luke’s donned their gym clothes to get involved on the static rowing machines, and thanks to everyone’s fantastic efforts, we beat our target by miles! In fact, we rowed approximately 200km in total. It was great to see so many colleagues from many different sections of the business come together to achieve a tremendous feat for a very worthy cause.
Alongside the Rowathon, we hosted a ‘tombola’ stall, with members of the public paying 50p a ticket to try and win one of the many fantastic items donated by our generous colleagues. Thanks to the employees of TCE and St Luke’s Hospice, and the generosity of the Cheshire public, we raised just over £620GBP.
Even our local Member of Parliament, Graham Evans (above), came down to cheer us on and try his luck on the tombola.
We reached our figure of £1,000GBP a few days later, when we hosted a charity auction in our head office at Natrium House. More gifts were generously donated by TCE employees and sold off during a fun morning on Friday 23rd December, raising around £380GBP. Highlights from the auction included bottles of whiskey and gin, a Harrods hamper, and a lot of chocolate. Many of our colleagues went home from work that day with some great last-minute stocking-fillers!
We are always thrilled to be able to help our charity partners St Luke’s Hospice, who do a lot of great work supporting families in our local community.
Communications Manager Richard Redman said: “The charitable spirit of our colleagues at Tata Chemicals Europe is nothing short of amazing, they are always prepared to donate time, effort and money with a smile on their face. Every time we host an event for St Luke’s, we try to make it bigger and better than the previous one. We love to challenge ourselves and it’s great to see so many people coming together, having fun while raising much-needed cash. In 2017 we plan to do even more with St Luke’s Hospice – it’s a great charity and we could not be more proud to support them.”
