Tata Chemicals Launches ‘Ncourage Social Enterprise Foundation’
Mumbai, November 20th, 2018: Tata Chemicals Limited, the leading player in Chemistry and Consumer products, today announced the launch of its new social enterprise, Ncourage Social Enterprise Foundation or ‘Ncourage’ with the objective of enhancing the quality of people’s life. Ncourage will serve society through solving basic human needs including water, nutrition, clean energy by empowering communities and building sustainable livelihoods.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. R. Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals Ltd, said, “Ncourage is a Section 8, not-for-profit company founded on the Tata Group’s philosophy of responsibility towards its communities and the larger goal of inclusive sustainable development. And we are pleased to announce the launch of this foundation while we commemorate Tata’s 150 glorious years of nation building. As a first step, Ncourage will take forward providing clean drinking water to 5 million households through its water purifier brand, Tata Swach. Ncourage aims to reach target communities through NGOs, village level entrepreneurs along with the traditional trade.”
Ncourage would be actively involved in exploring, promoting micro and small enterprises / Women SHGs / FPOs to work towards its objectives. It may also enter into strategic partnerships with other social enterprises and organizations involved in capacity building and incubation of micro and small enterprises, and facilitate selling of products and services through required market linkages both in rural as well as urban centers.
