Tata Sampann expands foods portfolio with the launch of spices

National: Tata Sampann, the newly launched brand of Tata Chemicals under its Consumer Products Business, today announced the launch of Tata Sampann Spices at a press conference in Delhi. Aimed at recreating the authentic taste and aroma of Indian food, the launch marks the brand’s foray into the spices category and is in line with the company’s vision to provide pure and authentic food, which forms a part of the everyday Indian thali. Following a phase-wise, roll-out plan, Tata Sampann Spices would be available across the northern market by the end of the year, followed by the west, east and south market. The spices category aims to leverage Tata Salt’s vast distribution network that caters to 120 million households across the nation.

Speaking at the press conference, R Mukundan, managing director, Tata Chemicals, stated, “The food market in India is pegged at Rs6,00,000 crore, which shows a huge growth opportunity as consumers are increasingly making informed decisions regarding their food habits. Tata Salt has been trusted by millions of consumers and, with Tata Sampann Spices, we further strengthen our commitment to provide everyday foods through high quality products. We are aiming to treble revenues to Rs5,000 crore in five years by entering newer product categories under the recently announced umbrella foods portfolio brand Tata Sampann.”

Tata Sampann believes that natural goodness is the way to go for a healthy, balanced life and has a stringent focus of delivering ‘everyday nourishing foods’, through food staples that are naturally rich and wholesome.

Uniquely developed with pure, fresh, and authentic ingredients by brand ambassador Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, the blended masalas come in a 5-in-1 pack where each 100 gram pack is further bifurcated into 5 packs of 20 grams each, to preserve its aroma, taste and color, thus keeping their ‘goodness intact’. The offering comprises of ten products ranging from everyday spices, such as chilli and turmeric powder, to specific blends such as ‘dal tadka masala’ and ‘punjabi chole masala’, which have been specially formulated to delight consumers’ taste buds and deliver the authentic flavor of each dish. Sourced from regions where climate and terrain benefit its natural flavour, the Tata Sampann Spices retain their naturally available volatile oils, giving fuller aroma and taste.

Tata Sampann’s new communication campaign ‘Goodness Ki Shuruaat’ is aimed at educating consumers about this focus as well as the benefits of its offerings. From farm-to-fork, Tata Sampann products retain the natural goodness of produce, thus helping the homemaker enrich everyday meals with extra nutrition and extra joy, thereby, delivering the highest quality and superior sensorials.

In my experience, homemakers have always looked for spices that are fresh, wholesome and aromatic. Through Tata Sampann, it is this very aspect that we will bring to the table with its unique formulations tailored to different regions, cuisines and taste preferences. It has been an exciting journey to work with a reputed brand, carry out months of careful research, testing (first being Chandigarh) and deriving the perfect formulation that will ensure a unique and quality product mix.”
